Default Is the Smartparts Ion a good gun?

I have a tippman 98 custom right now and i would like to get a better gun. My friend suggested the Ion and it seems to be a very good gun for the price. All the reviews i've seen are good. What do you think?

depends on how you play. if you're playing speedball, an ion might be a good upgrade, or maybe look into a used mini or something. however,if you use CO2, you're also going to have to invest in a new air tank to compressed air (also known as nitrogen tanks) because the CO2 will freeze up the electronics. If you play woodsball, stick ith the tippmann, maybe invest in an e-trigger to upgrade if it isn't fast enough for you.

ion is a pile of crap, now the ion XE on the other hand is much improoved, but for the money i say look into the SP vibe instead, it is essentually a ion on the inside but will work off co2 with very few problems.

o and Nate, the co2 does not freeze up electronics, it will blow the o-rings and hoses on the inside of the ion if you get liquid co2 in there, the vibe is designed to keep liquid co2 out hence why it is safe to use co2 on.

Not really... There may very well be better markers out there, but that just means they're better, it doesn't mean the Ion is bad.
