Actually it's not. I've gotten into many 1 on 1 confrontations with trixes, angels and timmys and I've come out on top more than not. Most guys think pumps are slow, but with a revy and having the autotrigger, I can hit at least 10 bps if I want, but that's just stupid.

There is a lot of enjoyment in pump play against semi's. It brings a whole new level to playing :D

I agree Doorman, it forces you to be a better player, not just following a string of paint over to your target. You're forced to snap shoot, and you have to work on the angles and movement. It just makes your game a whole lot better, be it speedball or woodball.

i used to think guys with pumps were outdated and nuts, but after a 1 on 1 with my a5, and coming up on the short end of the stick,i gained a whole world of respect for pump players,...i'll still stick 2 my a5 though

It's not the pump that's so great, it's the player that's so great. If you can compete against semis with a pump then you must be pretty damn good eh?

It is not the greatness of either marker or player.
It is a different way from the "norm". We can realy ignore that PB was all pump in the beginning. Few people are around that remember those days. I have been in the game 13 years now and have only heard about the all pump days. The National tourny scene and serious/wealthy players had all converted to Auto Mags, ACs, one of the other early semis when I started. Most were still shooting pump, but, semis were a up and coming thing.
It is a return to the roots. A trip down memory lane for some.
The only thing that I would describe as great about pumps is the cost savings.
I played 7 games today. Shot less than 100 PBs. Wasted 20 of those at the chrono and getting my eye back. Had 8 eliminations. Was hit twice. Once walking a side to take out a back corner player so my teamates could finish off the other weaker side. The second was to draw fire from a hidden player so my teamate could finish the game again. My total cost was almost $15. Not bad for a very nice day of PB.

i personally am going to start pump (this tuesday!) because of the enjoyment in it but more importantly it sheds a whole new light to paintball and i feel it will greatly improve my skills...i am still going to play semi but i wanna use pumps too so as to help my skills grow cuz im sure if YPG or Phantom went back to semi they'd rape us all =P

Yeah, will that's coming true sooner than any one may think. I'm getting a good semi here soon to play in the CFOA with. I played with an Alias today and it was amazing. It was sooo much easier to play with, but of course I'll still play pump, but not in tourneys.

If you are getting into the CFOA, get it together and come up to Kingsport next week end. TAS pus on a good one. The last couple of years they have used a field in Sevierville, but it is now condos. They have moved it back to Kingsport this year. No rides and attractions like the last couple, but, it should still be a good one.
A good high end semi would be to your best benefit, but, if you play front, you could use a pump. They spend most of thier time snap shooting anyway. :D

Yeah I might do that. I also do play front, but I noticed today during my many bunker runs I had a lot more control with they way things went down using the Alias. I've done bunker runs with my pump, but I always get shot out, but not without taking a fool or two with me mind you. Whenever I made a bunker run with the Alias I never got shot out. I was able to get someone down and out quick enough to get on the next guy before he had a chance to do anything. The pump has done it's job for me, it's built my skill by %100 and now I don't have to rely on ropes to play well. I played all my games without using a whole Halo. When I used to run a Spyder I would use about 300. I'll still play pump, but just not for tourneys, though I would like to play in some pump only tourneys.

Cool.
Watch out though. Semis can suck out your brain and make you trigger happy.
Beware the Dark Side! <_<

HAHA. I know what you mean. I tried not to blast a lot of ropes. It's hard not too though on ramping mode, you try to shoot 2 or 3 balls and then it just starts blasting at like 15bps and you end up putting out like 10 balls. I'll try not to be sucked too badly into the dark side there FT. So don't you worry, I'll still be a true pumper at heart. :D

i play pump because for one, it is way more fun in speedball playing agenst timmys and getting them out. plus the weight difference from a pumpers equipment is dramatically less than a semi player. the only harness that i wear is my stock class harness which is about 1 LB max and my pgp i about 2 lbs, and my ccm is a bit heaver at 5 with tank and hopper.

This is the wrong place, yet right time to ask that. I can't say that I have seen him post lately.
