Hey i'm gonna be gettin xbox live this friday and i had some questions. Does the cord have to be hooked up to a computer or can i run it through a phone jack without a computer? I was also gonna buy the three month starter kit and was wondering if that came with the part you need to plug into your controller for the communicator.

ok get the 12 month starter kit
its like 70 bucks and u get the headset,12months,the cord,and crismon skies or something
u have to hook it up to your computer
if u just have a straight connection u can only be on the internet or xbox live one at a time i think
i have a router so i can do both

LISTEN YOU CAN NOT RUN 56k in x box live . you need ehternet or cat 5 cable and you need to direct conect it to your moden or router

I have the ethernet with dsl and my question was if i could just plug an internet cord into the pone jack in my room and then to the back of the xbox. Because my computer is downstairs and i wouldn't be able to run a cord all the way too it.

no you can't cause the phone cord doesn't work like that, for dsl you'll need to run it from the modem and you can either be on the comp or on xbox but not both at the same time, tell your parents to get cable so you can get a router to fix that prob (and then for like 100 get the wireless conector for the xbox)

My parents aren't just gonna get me another internet provider just for xbox live.
