View Full Version : My Shocker is acting up

So today was the first time using my new shocker. I aired it up and went over to the target range. The first shot rolled right out of the barrel. First shot drop off. I wasn't pleased with that. I start shooting it some more and then it breaks a ball. I cleaned that out and went to play. About 10 shots into the first game it chops a ball, the bolt sticks forward, and all the air runs out. So I only played part of one game today.
Like I said, I just got the gun so I'm completely new to Shockers. It is brand new. I could be doing something wrong. I don't know.
Here is the setup I was using if it might help:
Non Vision Shocker
Ricichet Apache loader
ACI Bulldog 68/3000 800PSI Preset Nitrogen
All the settings were as they were right out of the box. I didn't mess with them.
Please help me out.

first off ur chopping bc u dont have vision, did u check to c if the bore size was the same bc if it isnt then u could be busting balls rather than chopping, since its new just lube up ur bolt if u think there isnt enough

Yea it was a chop. Half the ball was above the bolt in the feedneck and the other half was in front of the bolt. I'll try lubing it. I'll get vision if it keeps doing it. Thanks.

since u were using a apache rather than a halo b that could be why u chopped. the bolt stick should be cured with a lube job make sure u get all the o rings in the firing can and bolt sleeve

Thats what I was thinking. I'm waiting on a CCM adjstable feedneck so that the halo can fit without any sanding.

What is happening is that a piece of broken shell is jamming the bolt forward. If this happens you must turn off the air and then strip and clean it. Installing vision will not only stop this from happening, it will also make it a new gun. I speak from experience. My shocker did this several times to me.Also, if you haven't bought a feedneck yet, look at the Q-lock from Smart Parts. It's shorter and has a quick release. Very cool.

The Q-lock is what I ordered. If it still chops after putting the Halo B on it, I'll get the vision. Hopefully that wil fix it.

I can almost gurantee that you will still chop even with the halo. You will need to get eyes put on it other wise you will continue to chop, the halo is going to go faster but your gun is most likely to go even faster than the halo.

How much is the vision upgrade kit? -- Nevermind. Its on Smart Parts site for $175.00. I don't really have the money for it. :( I going to finish up this case of paint I got with it and probably just sell the gun. I could use the money more than the problems.
Last year I had an Angel A4 and it was the same thing. It needed to get Fly'd or else it would chop all the time. I sold it for $500 and lost a lot of money on it.
Thanks for your help everybody.

no you wont chop (a lot) with the shocker using a Halo. if the gun is set up correctly, you wont have FSDO either. you can set up the shocker where it is still fast but not so fast that it will outshoot the loader. you dont need vision to use it. granted the vision is nice, but you dont NEED it. ive had teammates have non vision shockers and seldom do they chop a ball. the other thing that helps ball chop is that the bolt is very soft on the paintball. post here if you have further questions.

I'm going to try out the Shocker with the Halo this Sunday. I'm going to have the tech at the field set up the dwell and all that since everything is still stock. I hope that it works. If its still giving me problems, I'm selling it.
