I have posted before in thinking about pumping but now i want to buy something cheap to try it out. Is the Maverick or Hornet anygood. Also can you give me the positives and negatives of the maverick or hornet. Thanks in advance and everything is welcomed.

They're both good and basically the same. The Trracer is the same as well. They're great beginner pumps. That's what I started out with. There's really no down sides to them, there are just nicer pumps out there.

reading reviews about the hornet and maverick sound good but also bad. The bad is that the velocity is controlled by springs. There is a 180fps and 300fps spring. Also i play on a 280fps field so what should i do? Please help and do you no of any other affordable pumps. Thanks

The Trracer I owned had a adjustable bolt that could be used to adjust the velocity. It is the same pump as the Maverick. I don't know if they still have them available or not.
As for other choices for a good price, checkout ebay or any site/store that sells used markers.

Ahh yes, the velocity adjustment. I guess I have the 300fps spring it mine, it stays at a constant 280, where as our field is 270, but the refs let me go with it, since it is just a pump and I'm not hosing people with it.

Depending on how well the individual PB fits the barrel on my Phantom, my velocity will vary from 265 to 285. The field limit is 280 and there is no problem. Guess they don't want to get on anyones badside that plays pump. You never know what us crazies are going to do if irritated. :o
