Banned? What gives?

If you are "banned" I need as much info as possible as to what you are seeing, because I'm not seeing it.

What page(s) can't you post on. Do you think you got banned for posting in a particular forum or ?? The more input I get, the sooner I can fix any issues.

I guess you're talking about us folk that made new accounts.

For me, I couldn't log in using my old username and password. Here's what happened... I tried logging in with the correct user name and password(and admittedly a couple others just in case i was going crazy and was typing in the wrong one), but it came up with the usual message saying that the username or password was incorrect. When I hit try number 5, it send an email to the correct email account and told me about what had happened, and in the email, it had the correct username, so apparently the account is still there, but the password got messed up or something.

Another thing I noticed that might or might not be an issue, is that when you select the "general" section so that it only shows forums in that section, the subforums for the forums in that section show as regular forums. For example, if I'm at the starting screen and I click "general", it will list the "Off topic" subforums underneath off topic as if they were forums under "general". Not sure if it's even worth trying to change, but I thought I'd let you know.

Edit: I thought I'd try resetting it, but I wasn't able to due to a CAPTCHA error. The area on the password recovery form where the CAPTCHA goes displays the error below instead of a CAPTCHA, and since you have to put in the CAPTCHA for it to reset or send the password, it wont do it.

It says "This reCAPTCHA key isn't authorized for the given domain. More info."

Yeah I did the same thing. Stupid me, didn't even think to look in my email for a new pass since the forums have been redone. Anyway, hit the five limit, had to wait 15. Got my new pass and I can sign in ok (under Stevedave.) So I click new posts and it shows me a list of the posts.

But now, anytime I try to view the post, it takes me to a screen saying I've been banned. It says reason specified : None, and it says ban will be lifted : Never. Something like that. Can't really give ya anymore info. Until that gets sorted out, I guess I'm on this account. I don't mind so much, except now the whole world can't know I've been here since 05...

There were some issues as the DNS info cascaded around the internet. At times it said http://209.147.121.46 (actual server IP), then http://forum.paintball.com and now finally, it should be reading http://forums.paintball.com (the final and correct name).

I saw the reCaptcha code wasn't working, so I logged back into their site and refreshed the codes. Seems to be working for me now. You??

I'm having no problems with the recovery forms. I've tried resetting my password like three times. And I can, and then I log in, get my new password. Unfortunately my account is still banned. Still says the same thing it did before whenever I try to open a thread.

But I won't flip out on ya saying I'm the paintball police lol, don't lose any sleep over it.

Stevedave, I don't think I ever got an email with a password or anything... When did you get that? My email just said someone tried to login 5 times and that they wouldn't be able to for 15. Of course, that person was me, but the server didn't know that...

I will try again though.

Ok now I'm in the same boat as Stevedave. I saw the note about resetting so I did all that. I got that same banned message when I tried to go to the forum this thread is in. I clicked on Off Topic and got in there but didn't try to open a thread or subforum. Anyway, thanks for working on it so quickly, especially right around Christmas time.

Ok, not being able to find out any real solid leads from the vBulletin support forums, I moved users to the usergroups that came with vBulletin and trashed all the imported groups.

So, I hope that helps.

Now off to recheck all the permissions of the boards with the "standard" user groups.

yeah i was having all the same troubles as them with the PW & log in... today i tried & the captcha was actually there so i could reset my PW & get on here... glad i remembered the email i used... this is defiantly going to take some getting used to

edit: maybe put a link to the section of the forum your in in the bottom section of the screen so you don't have to scroll all the way back to the top... not sure if that's even possible with this software

edit2: also... you may want to take this chance to clean up the mod list & such... hope the site can rebound after this... i'm sure after a couple days of trying some of the older members won't be coming back

Subforum issue was not an issue, turns out I'm just blind. It listed them under the "general" section, but AS subforums. I just couldn't tell with the color scheme until I looked really close.

So I guess the broken smilies is the only other things... Then the request for sig images and 15 line rule instead of 500 characters if that is possible.

Subforums show as regular forums if you click on a section. For example, if you click on the "general" section, the subforums of "off topic" show up in the list as regular forums.Looking into that.

Yeah, I figured it was. IMHO smilies aren't very important.. If it were me I'd just delete the broken ones.

When you click on a section like "General" the subforums are denoted with a very small indention and a different color background behind the icon next to the name. So I guess it's not really a glitch or error.

I think now would be a good time to delete 95% of the forums. Most of it's not used, even if a thread would more properly belong in one of the unused forums... It makes it so that either a forum isn't used for what it was created for, making it pointless, or it IS used for what it was created for, but used so little that no one knows when it's used, so you just get another dead topic that gets no more than 1 reply, if that. So, either the forum is ignored and not used in the first place, or threads are put in the right forum and no one knows about it. I think we should have Off Topic and Paintball talk. Two forums. Really, it could all FIT into one forum, but I think that separation would be kind of necessary. Maybe keep New Players forum. Anyway, that's my 2 cents.

Nope looks like it's a setting issue.

With stealthyeliminatorV2 I get the same thing in IE and Firefox, it only gives one option, "Do not use Avatar"
