hey, i was looking to buy a spyder as a first gun, just something that will last a few years before i have more money to buy the one i want. Some people i have talked to have only good things to say and others only burn. so what are your opinions on spyder markers and the spyder pilot model if possible

spyders are great first markers

how long do you expect most spyders to last and how is their maintenance? extensive or mild?

they last a long time if you take care of them, but thats with everything, and they are easy to take care of

are they easily customizable? as in, whould i be able to get a rifled barrel for it easily (understandably leaving out the MR series)?

my first marker was an 05 pilot acs. loved it except the acs bolt, its garbage imo. but after i got my dm7 it doesnt feel right lol

sorry, i'm unfamiliar with the ACS, is there a website that spyder has that i could do more research on the pilots? nvm, i found the company website. oh, thanks, the ACS was the one i was planning on buying, the provider only had it labeled spyder pilot, anyway, could you elaborate on what was wrong with the bolt?

the cocking knob always flies off, after broken in the bolt is just erratic, doesnt really work to well, and i just dislike it. there are plenty threads about the acs bolt in the kingman section.

no. hpa is better to use, its more consistant and wont freeze your hands lol. but it does get less shots per fill

okay well thanks for your help, but i found a tippman a5 for 219 dollars that i think i'm going to go with, mostly because i'm goiing to be playing in the woods behind my house and i don't was to have to deal with electronics. i figure i'll get a spyder in a year or two for speedball... a5 only has semi... but so many possible mods and configurations...

not bad. just stay away from the flatline. and when you upgrade go better than a spyder lol

i didn't mean spyder as an upgrade, i meant that the a5 is currently limited to semi, unless i upgrade it it won't be very good in speedball
