I have been playing a lot of woodsball/rec ball lately on some property I have and while it is great fun I am sure I could get more out of it. So the question is what kind of things would you want in an ultimate field? I am already trying to add things but I am sure you all must have some great ideas floating around so please share them.

Trenches, trails, big bases, towers/tree house. Random bunkers scattered about the woods. Any of that stuff is good in a woodsball field. Especially trenches, it's real fun to run down a trench just pumping fools. LOL

Trees and rocks you can hide behind without having to stay scrunched down all the time or wiegh less than 100 pounds or you habng out the sides. Enough cover to move around in, but, not so much you can't shoot through.
Forts and such are nice. Depends on the scenario you are going for.

a 20 acre field, a dense form of trees on the western edge with bunkers and a tree house maybe. I would like there to be tall grass and some sort of area with like wodden structers, like walls, and some of those pipes that run through hills. It would have to have some bunkers with obstacles, maybe a broken car or two.

Well here are the things I am working on putting in to my field.
Towers
Concrete boulders and rocks
Buildings of some kind( I am not sure yet)
I would love to tie things into a theme but I have not decided yet so I will just try and figure out a lot of really cool features and make a theme from there.

That's a good start. I wouldn't put out anything too permanent yet, since you're not quite sure what theme you're going for. So if you change your mind you can still move stuff around.

I can always reface towers and buildings to make them fit in with any theme I pick. I just wish I could put in cooler stuff like tunnels and trenches but snakes and water stop me from using them.

I would say make a veitnam theme if you want a theme. I would want thick grass about four feet tall. I would want spider holes along some of the woodlines and along a few trails. Umm... Big piles of dirt, about 6-8 feet tall blocking some of the trails.. That would make for some interesting fire fights. Trenches would deffinatly be cool. And something I've always wanted to see, moving bunkers. They would be better for a speedball feild but whatever. They would be on a track type thing and just move back and forth the length of the track. I think that would be cool.

Forest seperated by a large field with tall grass. Base on either side of the field in the forest. Towers. Tanks. All natural bunkers. In the field there are various roads and revines. Perfect.

The Ultimate Woodsball...lots of (climbable) trees, logs, bushes, tall grass, one or two bridges, and a creek. I play woodsball out at my friends grandparents and I love it. :) :) :) :) :)

Big fields. Non-hazardous but in sight boundaries. 2 Big Story Forts with windows and rooms on opposite sides for each team, great for scenarios. Trentches leading up to the forts. Woods in a U-turn around the fort. Maybe a small center building that can help with pushing back the opposing team.
I got alot more, and where are u from? im from south carolina. That would be great if u lived near me and i could help and all and help run it, etc.

I think it would be cool if they made a field that was like a small town with like cars, buildings, and alleyways. Also an old western theme would be cool in my opinion.

Creeks to wade through and sneak up on the opposition. Trenches, Concrete Bunkers, almost vertical hills going into water.
Rent a backhoe for a week and try WW2 theme.

There is something new at the field where I play.
After hurricane Dennis, a pine tree fell over and is propped up by other trees.
You can now walk up it and get about 15 feet in the air and see the most of the course.
Perfect sniper spot because of some branches.
So, in summary, build ramps going into the low branches of trees.

well besides the obvious bunkers/ walls/ and trenches the ultimate dream field would have an extensive tree level tree fort system to have a ground and tree level battlefield with both sides exchanging fire while trying to achieve an objactive. :)

 I also am putting in a woods ball feild here in Oregon where I live, and we have a water problem as well. The towers and forts the others are suggesting are great ideas. We used the fallen trees and others from the property to build wall type bunkers between two or more other standing trees. We put in small ground veitnam type bunkers with over head cover using logs and old tin covered with dirt and bushes we dug up on the property. We dug trenches and used half rounds from our local mill(free stuff) and used tires to line them with so the players wouldn't collapse the sides getting in and out. We also put dirt and sand bag burms along the edges of the treches to make them deeper. To the other problem of water, the solution we finaly used is what is called a french drain. You dig your trench or ground bunker two feet deeper than you need, at one end put in 6-8 inch plastic pipe two foot long with 1 inch holes dilled all over in it vertically and fill the trench with 2-3 inch size course rock with no fines in it. And on game days if the water is above the rock we have a small portable pump to pump the water out of the trench though the 6 inch pipe and then cover it with a wood plug we made to fit the pipe so no one would step in it.Hope this helps. I travel all over the US driving trucks I might be able to come by and help or play? Contact me if this works for you. Bandon Baller (Cranberry541@msn.com)

All i ever play is woodsball, there are a few good ways to make bunkers,
1. Nail a couple of boards together at 90 deg. angles so they stand on their own
2. Go to an army surplus store and get some canvas to nail between trees or posts
3. find some wood pallets (some warehouses/factories give away old ones) and nail stand them up.
4. I havnt tried this one but i really want to, get some chicken wire and nail it to trees/post for all splat and no hit :D .
Another good tip if you live in a place that rains alot (like me in Oregon) trenches and foxholes are a no no, when it rains they become giant mudhole that make it very hard to menuvre in.

like a a river with 2 bases setup on each side and a narrow bridge in center and like ladders on trees so u can get up on them and stuff like that that would own
