well i been looking for purchase my first car and i dont hve much cash to be honest since i was originaly not gonna have to buy my car and instead have my dads truck isntead. well plans changed.

i been looking though all the local auto shoppe type magazines and stuff...newspapers and ######. Since i cnat finace i have to buy whole.

I want a small cheap car..IE older hondas ... small...run forever and gass efficent.

well i found a 1987 proches 944... it has 90 thouhsand miles...alot but most of the cars in my price range have "alot",its a 4 cylender tho and auto...turn off but its only $1600. i figured since it is a 4 cylender it would eb efficent..somewhat anyway.

I am just worryed about engine problems and due to the car being older and foriegn being expensive..

So should i expect problems and high prices to fix? Or even would a porsche..even one as out of date as this good for a new driver?

man, 90k miles! thats great for a 944! id go for it, you will be putting some time into it, changing the spark plugs often, oil, etc. 87's a good year for porshe, all late 80's are. but i would have it checked out, have the compression tested, make sure the odometer is stock and still sealed, see if there are any rebuilds on the engine, ask for a paper trail. get some pics if you can. and what engine does it have? should have a 1.8 litre i beleive unless its a turbo.

edit: engine stuff wont be expensive, probably cheaper than most other stuff, you just gotta know some VW guys.

stright from the ad

4cylender auto, power steering air and 90,140 miles. vin number..... power winderos sunroof and allow whls...

its not turbo..

but i guess have all that done means taking it to a garage? god taht means more money aye?

maintnce i can deal with. I mean for 1600 there has to be something with it...###### interior or something right? i did a search on 944's and yahoo autosales and i seen alot go for 4k or so and turbos for 7-8..so i can deal with maintince but i dont want to restore a car..lmao.

edit- i took a pic of the add...best i can do at the moment.

hmm, that is pertty cheap. have you looked at it? id go look at it first. if you want a cheap relaible porsche (ugly as they are), look into a 914. they run forever and the engines are cheap as hell.

If you are looking for a good older car, I'd go for a volvo or other european. Not a honda. They are really crappy.

pfft... say that to the ones with 300k miles on em and still going strong. dont go with euro unless its a volvo, beemer, vdubb, or a later (around late 70's to early 80's) porsche. anything else is too hard to find parts for.

there is a difference on getting a good deal, and looking for a good deal... if you have $1900 or whatever to blow, id get something a bit more reliable...

I'm sick of domestics... especially ford. I could tell some horror stories about buddies who have replaced transmission 4 times in a few years, as well as the crappy service they get. I'm saving up for a decent honda or toyota... we just got ride of my family's 91 Toyota Previa that had 250,00 miles and had never had any major engine or transmission problems! zero! a quarter million miles later it started having some transmission issues. That baby was a boss

I'd love a civic sport edition or maybe another Toyota... right now I have a 95 Camry that has been great.
