Some people will say yes, others will say no. So I'll tell you why:
Both markers are great entry level markers. But rumors run rampant through the paintball world, not to mention manufacturer loyalty. This divides many between the Tippmann and the Spyder when talking entry level, or even higher level.
However, both markers are reliable, both markers put paint on the target, and both markers can do wonders in the hands of newb/long time player alike.
The choice isn't about what marker is better, because both of them compare equally (even though it is like comparing apples and oranges).
The better question is what style of marker do you like? Do you like the compact size and light weight of a Spyder? Or do you prefer the larger, and heavier weight, tank of the paintball world the Tippmann?

i think tipps r good for woods ball and spyders r better for speed cuz they lighter and some times faster and tipps r good for woods because they can blend with ground and if u get flatline they go farther and stuff like that
thats just my opinion

Definitely get a tippman, if u get a tippman get either an A-5 or a 98 Custom. I have a 98 custom and and shoots very accurate.

Well Im a spyder fan but,
Its like what Doorman said above. They are very equal and its really up to you. If your going to be playing speed ball go with a spyder and if its woods ball then go tipp. If you like the look of one better then the other you could go with that too since they are so very close. It all comes down to your choice though. Many people like tipps on this board iv noticed though so your going to be getting lots of Tipps are better posts.
*Just a heads up :D *

Spyders if maintained well are a little nicer than Tippmanns in my educated, experienced opinion. Tippmanns though don't even need to be maintained. Just a drop of oil in the asa before you gas it up and it's good to go. It's not quite a finnesse as a Spyder, though neither of them are all that finnesse. What I mean is Spyders are nicer to shoot, not as choppy feeling as a Tippmann. Spyders feel more like a well working machine where as the Tippmann just feels like a paintball lobbing thing. Both are good though. Just go for what ever you think looks better really. That's really all the major difference.

i have a spyder rodeo and it is very light to me.my friend has a tpmn 98 it is heavier. they both shoot about the same, but if u like to play in the woods and like to run up in the front lines get a spyder. but if u like to stay back get a tpmn with a flatline barrel. its ur choice get whatever u feel comfertable with and whatever u like. like what doorman said...

First gun? Damn, both are good choices like everyone has been saying. Spyders are excel alot in speedball because of the wieght, and feel of the gun. Tipp's do well in scenerio games because of how much they can take. Tipp's pretty much take care of themselves, while Spyder use a little bit of work from time to time. It's all about personal preferance.
