just get an ethernet cable and hook the computers up. There might be a specific cable for lanning i kno there is one for the xbox but i think a regular ethernet cable would work to hook the 2 computers up.

Is there a way you can direct connect thru counter strike? There might be a way to where you could get the others ip address and connect without the help of counter strike's server.

yeh... you can, but you have to pay for service through steam, and they are a smart company and make you check and register everything. i dont wanna pay anything...

I don't understand what you just said about paying for service through Steam... did you maybe download Counter-Strike from the internet?

Anyway, just tell your friend to bring his computer to your house. There's no other way to play on a LAN server unless you're both on the same network.

I'm saying there might be a way to direct connect....then again they may not let you do that anymore. You know instead of connecting to Steam's serverers and playing that way just direct connect to each other. I don't about counter strike but other games you can do it that way. But if all else fails your gonna have to go each others houses and hook up to the same network like he said up there.

Umm...ok...so you can both get into Counterstrike, and play bots and such? OR are you trying to pirate a copy so you can even launch into the game?

If you can get into counterstrike, your good to go....
use run->cmd->ipconfig or goto http://whatismyip.org/ to get your ip
use ~ to get into console while in CS, type /connect ip of whoever started the server

There is also somthing called VPN, or Virtual Private Network, you can do that remotely.... google it

ALSO....LANing, quite simple.... if you can, like mentioned, get them in the same room, you can use a CROSSOVER cable, a normal CAT5 cable wont work.....PC-PC has to be a crossover..... alternively you can use a Switch and normal cat5 cable....

go buy the game, its worth it

You can use a program called Hamachi... its basically a lan but using the internet as the cable. You both need it and one of you just set up a VPN (virtual private netowrk). Its free and uber easy its not even funny.
