View Full Version : Ion, Rocking the Electro Market?

As I've noticed, the Ion is becoming very popular. Of course, why wouldn't it be? It's fast, made by a respectable company, comes with nice features, and not at all a hefty price tag. This makes me wonder, for when the Canon Digital Rebel came out it was the first Digital SLR under $1000. Within months competing companies were presenting their own SLR's into the mix to compete with Canon. Can the same be expected in the paintball market due to the shockingly low price of the Ion?

I think all the money they are gettin from settlements is helping to keep prices down. That or the marker will not last long. YOu cant have a high performance marker for that cheap and have it last forever as a main marker.

Rocking the market yes. They are like the Cockers of this era. They'll die out. Soon enough we'll get other companies what start making better markers in the same price range. In another few years with the market going like it is, blow backs will be obsolete.

most people don't see the flaws in it. Look past the price and start looking at things like airflow, max rof, cycle speed, durability, and computing power. I used to have a 98 custom that could do 17bps because of all the custom work on it, but that still didn't make it an outstanding marker because of the initial design flaws that are hard to fix once you get going.
I see the ion pushing spiders out of the light a little bit, but they won't threaten the highend market to much because the smart players know what really works best.
for the sake of the game i hope the ion takes the path of the cannon digital rebel, because i know a lot of guys who are really great players, but are limited by their gun and cant afford a higher end marker, so right now the ion is looking like a great choice for them, i hope more like it come out
guy on my team had a rasta 05 fly- sold it- bought an ion, and saved the other cash he got.
another's shocker broke down on him, he was just sick of it and low on cash so he sold it, got an ion.
both like their ion more... i traded sold my timmy and bought an ego. and honestly, the ion shoots just as nice as both with the CP trig on the ion.

theyll probely be makeing a new gun, or barrel kit, regulator, or upgrades
its worth more than what their asking for, but eventually the price will fall, but i think it will take a while for it to fall, but then again i seem unable to think two months into the future
