I have decided to switch from mine mechanical marker (VL Triad) to a electrical marker. But I can't figure out which type of marker to get. I'm kinda leaning toward to a Proto Matrix. What would be a good electrical marker to get or should I not get an electrical marker but a tippman?

How much money are you willing to put in, and how advanced is your knowledge on electro markers?

I'm willing to spend as much money it is to take. And mine knowledge about electrical markers is from paintball magazines.

You might want to look into an Ion, fairly cheap, fast, and electronic. Try finding some owners and look into their opinions on the marker. We already have several topics in Paintball Talk about the Ion, I would read them first.

id also like to add that www.pbreview.com is a great resource for information about markers (and everything else in the paintball world, for that matter)

I wouldn't say it's "great". Some of the reviews submitted are extremely biased.

Well it seems that you are making a huge jump by wanting a matrix, I think you should take it slow, find a nice Eforce piranha or E-spyder, If you want a spyder, the imagine is still the run of the mill for beginners. It's small, lightweight and reliable.
And if you want an eforce piranha, which costs a bit more, but has various nice feature, I suggest the E-Force STS, it's about $139 at action village

See I am not a beginner that wants to be left behind in the paintball craze. When I go against any player on the field I want to have a good chance to match the other oppent marker. I want him (or her) to overrun me with there skills not by the marker. The one I got now is good enough to go against mine friends when we play. I want nothing major just something that is worth takeing into a match in any type of paintball game. But I will look into the Sypder and Piranha.

the piranah is a very durable gun and fairly easy to upgrade. both the piranah and spyder have the same spreads. so all the parts counter change. it is a nice step up no need in spending that much money unless you are wanting to get going on a tournament team'

Okay, if I played in an tournment one day and the next time I go play woods ball, would I be able to play with the same marker in both games with the Sypder and Piranah.

Yeah, you will.
But who said all Spyder and Pirahna parts are interchanable? Thats not true.
Proto Matrix is a very large jump up. I wouldn't go straight to one. Ion over Spyder or Pirahna.

If you really have to get an electro get an ION. Since you're coming from a crapo Brass Eagle piece you'll want something that's maintenance free and doesn't need any tweaking. But if you're up for a tweaking challenge. You can get a CCM S5 pump and an Eblade. So you can switch from kick ###### cocker pump to kick ###### electro cocker. www.chipleymachine.com

If you got the money for the Proto Matrix, make the jump. I find that my paintballing experience is much more enjoyable with a good high performing marker that I can feel confident with. If you got the funds, go for it.

My brothers first gun was an Icon-E ( Electronic of course ) and the thing ripped on 3-shot and full auto. ( I had Co-2 spraying my face on full-auto ) but the gun was good. I aint tellin ya you should get it but hey, its a good marker. ( The BEGINNER elecs have programmable, single-shot, 3-shot, 6-shot, and full-auto. Proto DEFINITELLY doesnt, darn it

What are you talking about? Don't know many spyder clones with psp/nxl/cfoa modes.
