Buying a plain m98 is about the worst thing you can do, to bad your friend didn't inform you when you bought it. m98s are not very customizable.

Ha you bought a model 98 custom. Man those things are the genaric brand of a tippmann 98 custom. You cant do any thing with that pice of crap. Unless if you just started then i would say good luck getting lit up.

Well, they're not crap, just you can't trick them out to make them even better. Better have the Proshop do some work for you.

Ah the ignorance... Models are just as costomizable as customs. To install a RT there will need to be a little milling done. It is highly suggested that you let a professional do this. To install a double trigger you will just need to saw off the old trigger gaurd. Install the new one, which I belive is made by lapco. And like someone else said install the shoktech(sp) double trigger. I belive its made by shoktech, correct me if I'm wrong. Anyways. I have a model 98. The customs are just made so that most upgrades are drop in. On the models they arn't drop in. That, and the milling, are pretty much the only differences in the model and custom. About the barrels, I think most companys make threads that are interchangable between the model and custom. Just check and make sure before you buy one.

Well, you could be an a$$ and go buy a new 98 custom powerpack from sports authority for around 150 and return the model 98 in the box.... Say you got it as a gift, and you noticed the gun was defective.... Voila, you now have a 98 custom....

Now, I don't recommend doing this, because it gives paintballers a bad name... But I also have grudges against big chain stores and their weakness'.... My brother got a custom pro with the e-trigger and traded in a brass eagle pump gun... They never even opened the box.... Now whose fault is that?.... He also got a jt proteus mask after returning the jt mask that came with the brass eagle pump gun in the proteus box....

That's just my 2 cents

ok, why you have to have to use a proshop is the trigger gard is not removable. They have to mill out you plates. Its the same if you want a rt. They have to mill out a spot for it, and dont worry this gun is not the worst you can do. If you boght an VL orion then you should worry. Thoght this isn't as upgradable as the custom its just a tuff and durable. You just can't upgrad the trigger with out custom milling.
