I'm in the process of designing a small motorbike made from a bicycle and either a small 4 stroke lawnmower engine or a small weedwacker/chainsaw engine. I also might convert the engine to run off of either alcohol, propane or hydrogen. I've also designed a mini drag bike but it was too expensive to build. All it is is a friction drive system with a pivoting clutch system. I've built a couple before but I need more metal/bikes/engines.
But yea, whatever. I don't have the time right now to build...

yeh, what engine? i doubt that. those little pocket rockets have 47/49 cc engines and they only max out at about 22ish

Not true. I bought a pocket rocket when I was in upstate NY for $500. Not too long after, I was doing 60-70mph on it, according to the spedomotor(sp?). I wasn't sure if it was for real, so I drove next to my dad in his car. Same results; 60-70mph. It's using a 49cc engine. No upgrades at all.
I also have a Go-Kart (3 actually. They're all my projects) that I've hit 50 on. It's only using a 5hp engine too, and the thing is heavy as hell.

That pocket rocket will not go 60-70..... my friend races one worth several thousand dollars and his only goes 52 and that thing has all totally custome parts.

no, the kawasaki ones made in the 80's dont even do that, ducati makes em and they only do about 65 (and thats a ducati 50 cc engine). and it is the spedometer, i saw one that went up to 120. and what kinda 5 horse is it? if its a honda or techumseh with a super expensive torque converter... than maybe... downhill with a tail wind. i have 2 go carts as well as a shifter cart with a kaw 100cc engine (disnt run), but it barely breetched 50. also countless minibikes and other projects. i think your dad was lieing to ya.

Nope. My bro was in the car too. 60-70 No lie. I'm not sure if the Go-Kart actually hits 50, but it feels like it comparing it to the bike. It's probably more like 40, but the bike definatly hits at least 60.

im tellin ya that it dosnt, there is no way that it physicaly can do it. speed in a car is totaly diff than on a minibike or go cart.

me and my grandpa built a dune buggy/midget car hybrid from the ground up. im gonna get some pictures up soon. the engine is a 1000cc honda aircooled. the frame is aluminum tubing so it really lite. the supension is simple and stiff so it handles sweet. lightweight pretty big motor the thing really rips. it doesn't have a speedometer on it but we did some horsepower/weight and transmission calculations and figured the top potential speed is 135. but then between aerodynamics, imperfections in the ground and several other factors i doubt it'll get past 115ish.

Good luck with that. Good luck also when you crash it and the roll cage smashes you into 1000 pieces.

well, you can still up to a 2000cc engine in a honda odysey, and those thing can take a beating. my neighbor had one with a 750 engine in it and that thing ripped through sand.
